Update to naloxone hydrochloride

Guideline :
Update to naloxone hydrochloride

Question and answer: Q&A: An update to Naloxone Hydrochloride was published on the app in April, alongside a revised guideline on overdose and poisoning. A question has been raised as to why the doses for Naloxone in children are so high. JRCALC was updated in line with the BNF. The large dose difference between adults and children reflects the likely aetiology of the opiate ingestion and aims of treatment. In children under the age of 12, the aetiology is likely to be accidental ingestion and they are unlikely to be dependant on opiates.
