NEW DH PUBLICATION: “Building the Evidence Base in Pre-Hospital Urgent and Emergency Care”

“Building the Evidence Base in Pre-Hospital Urgent and Emergency Care” was published yesterday on the DH website.

This document reviews the existing research and evidence in the field of pre-hospital urgent and emergency care, and identifies gaps where future research would be valuable. It is a resource for organisations and individuals looking for existing evidence to inform policy and practice, and for those planning and funding future research. It was researched and written by the University of Sheffield Medical Care Research Unit, and was commissioned and funded by the DH.

Clare Sandling, Section Head, Ambulance Policy at the DH Urgent and Emergency Care Branch, said:

“Congratulations to Janette and many of her colleagues at Sheffield University for producing what I believe is a really useful resource for the NHS, which was commissioned in response to a recommendation in Taking Healthcare to the Patient to look at the evidence base in this area, and thanks to colleagues in DH and the service who helped to develop this. Thanks also to Bridget and colleagues at COI for making the finishing touches.”
