Non-Executive Director (NED) Development Seminar

Non-Executive Director (NED) Development Seminar

Following the cancellation of ALF 2020, the Non-Executive Development session took place using the video-conferencing solution, Zoom.

A recording of the session is available here.

About the NED event

We were delighted that this session offered an opportunity to hear from The King’s Fund, NHS Providers and the NHS Confederation.

Richard Humphries, Senior Fellow, Policy, The King’s Fund advised on navigating the STP/ICS landscape.  As well as his role at The King’s Fund, Richard is a non-executive director at Wye Valley NHS Trust so brought a wealth of directly relevant experience.

Kim Hutchings, Head of Development and Engagement at NHS Providers:

“Improving services, by acting on opinion: how boards can utilise the member and public voice to change services for the better. Hear from your FT colleagues who are really making this happen.”

Kim considered the role of governors and members in foundation trusts and transferable learning for non-foundation trusts.  She drew directly on best practice examples from members and was supported by Paul Devlin, Trust Chair of Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, and Peter Howie, Trust Secretary, Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Ruth Rankine, Primary Care Network (PCN) Development Director at the NHS Confederation, concluded the session sharing her insight into and experience of working alongside the evolving PCN system and what this meant for NEDs.
