Conference stream two: Creating a specialist service – the role of specialist paramedics on mental health response vehicles in Yorkshire and Humber

The NHS Long Term Plan 2019 promised to deliver better and 24/7 care to patients experiencing mental health crisis, supported by better trained ambulance clinicians working collaboratively with partners.

As we recover in the post-Covid world YAS have devised innovative solutions to delivering better mental health care to our patients whilst developing training and support for clinicians and support staff. Working with system partners we can improve care in our community and away from hospitals, identify opportunities to reduce health inequalities and make every contact count to support our patients.

Understanding our partners better will enable us to pilot and embed digital solutions and be at the forefront of research in our pre-hospital speciality.
