The College of Paramedics is the recognised professional body for all paramedics in the UK, whose role is to promote and develop the paramedic profession across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The College of Paramedics was established in 2001, and is a membership organisation with over 20,000 members. In 2015, the College became a Charity, registering with the Charities Commission. Membership is open to all UK paramedics registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), student paramedics who are studying for a qualification leading to eligibility to apply for registration with the HCPC and those who have an interest in the paramedic profession and healthcare delivery.

The College of Paramedics provides advice to members and student members alike and is a source of information and guidance for those who are considering becoming a paramedic. The Library and Knowledge Services for NHS Ambulance Services in England is a project lead by NHS Workforce, Training and Education (NHS WT&E) and the National Education Network for Ambulance Services (NENAS).

The library is led by the Librarian, Matt Holland who is based in the North West of England. The overall supervision of the service is provided by a Steering Group including colleagues from NHS healthcare libraries, Health Education England (HEE) and the National Education Network for Ambulance Services (NENAS).

The library service encourages users to make use of local access agreements for NHS staff where they exist with healthcare libraries and higher education institutions.

The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC) is the only national charity that provides independent and confidential support to the UK’s ambulance family when they’re struggling with their mental health, physical rehabilitation or financial wellbeing.
