The Call Prioritisation Streaming System (CPSS) was developed to replace the ageing call handling systems for NHS 111 Wales, using existing protocols as a foundation.
This presentation provides an update on the first year of CPSS, which has managed over 500,000 cases. An evaluation using the Delphi-Rand appropriateness approach showed high levels of outcome appropriateness, with consensus achieved in 83% of cases.
Areas of non-consensus have been addressed in version 2. CPSS continues to effectively prioritize and stream patients, with call handling staff managing 70% of cases without clinical callback and NHS 111 Wales referring less than 8% of cases to 999 ambulance services.
