Video CPR for bystanders during out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: A UK-first pilot of Advanced Paramedic-led support via GoodSAM Instant On Scene

Session Information

High quality cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is crucial to the survival of patients from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA), but in the UK, we have no insight into the quality of CPR patients receive prior to ambulance service arrival.

In a UK first, the East of England Ambulance Service has piloted the use of live remote video support from Advanced Paramedics on a dedicated OHCA desk to guide bystanders to deliver the highest quality CPR and use of defibrillators.

The OHCA desk provides senior clinical input to all OHCA 999 calls and has been pivotal is reducing unnecessary over deployment of resources and providing much needed aftercare to bystanders.
