JRCALC Clinical Practice Guidelines

JRCALC Logo

The Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liaison Committee guidelines are the essential resource for paramedics, although the principles are also applicable to the work of all pre-hospital clinicians.

JRCALC develop clinical guidelines for UK NHS ambulance service paramedics on behalf of the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives, and working closely alongside National Ambulance Service Medical Directors.

These JRCALC guidelines are an important part of clinical risk management and ensure uniformity in the delivery of high-quality patient care. As such, they form the basis for UK paramedic training and education. Visit the dedicated JRCALC website here.

The story of JRCALC

JRCALC combines expert advice with practical guidance to help paramedics in their challenging roles and supports them in providing patient care. The guidelines cover an extensive range of topics, from resuscitation, medical emergencies, trauma, obstetrics and medicines, to major incidents and staff wellbeing.

The JRCALC iCPG and JRCALC Plus apps contain the complete and most current clinical guidance. Updates are published throughout the year, and the apps remain fully functional without a phone signal which always ensures the most up-to-date information for clinicians.

As such, the JRCALC apps have become the defining source for clinical guidance for UK paramedics and should be used to inform clinical decision making.

It is also possible to access the JRCALC apps via web versions.
