The Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Programme (JESIP) has been established to address the recommendations and finding from a number of major incident reports.
JESIP is a two year programme that aims to improve the ways in which police, fire and ambulance services work together at major and complex incidents. Many thousands of ambulance, police and fire personnel will be trained by JESIP this year in support of these objectives.

When police, fire and ambulance services respond to major incidents, along with other agencies, each organisation brings their own expertise to that situation. The programme aims to help the emergency services better understand each other’s expertise and ways of working so they can improve how they can jointly deal with an emergency.
JESIP recently produced an excellent film outlining the importance of interoperability and how their programme enables a consistent joint emergency service response to major incidents. You can watch the video here.
