In a first for the capital, ambulance crews and staff at care homes are now able to use a video call system to speak to specialist nurses for additional support for unwell patients.
Telemedicine is a high-definition video link that allows care home staff to speak remotely, on video, to senior clinical nurses who can arrange referral onto other community health services if they require support for unwell patients who aren’t critically ill.
This includes specialist advice on palliative care, dementia, pressure sores and other chronic long-term conditions.
