AACE congratulates Chair on top London Ambulance Service appointment

Jason KillensThe Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE) has congratulated its Chair Jason Killens KAM following news of his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of London Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Jason’s new role follows seven successful years as Chief Executive Officer at the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust, where he led the service through the Covid-19 pandemic, helped the organisation gain university trust status and led on the development of a transformational clinical model that will benefit patients in Wales by providing a safer, more clinically appropriate service that better meets their needs.

Anna Parry, Managing Director of AACE, said:

We are absolutely delighted that Jason has been appointed as Chief Executive of London Ambulance Service, which is one of the largest and most visible ambulance trusts in the country and is where Jason began his career as an Emergency Medical Technician three decades ago.

As Chair of AACE since September 2024 he has provided the ambulance sector with exceptional and visionary leadership, combined with personal qualities that help us to break down barriers quickly and really get things done on the national stage.

We are particularly fortunate that one of Jason’s key priorities – both in Wales and nationally via his AACE Chair role – has been to challenge poor culture in the ambulance sector where it occurs and to focus on creating safer, more inclusive working environments for everybody in the ambulance service and for the patients we serve.

We look forward to continuing to work with Jason on these and other major ambulance sector issues nationally at AACE and we wish him the very best for his new role in London.
