Responding to the violence seen across the UK this weekend, Helen Vine, Assistant Director of the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE) said:
The violence we have seen this weekend is unacceptable and places a huge strain on our emergency services, with thousands of police, ambulance and fire and rescue service staff placing themselves at great personal risk on the front line to help protect people and save lives. Sadly, many have ended up injured or in hospital as a result and we extend our sincere best wishes for their full recovery.
AACE has also learned of many ambulance staff who have relayed how frightening the current situation is for them personally. To them, we underline our commitment to the celebration of diversity in the ambulance sector workforce, as we continue to build anti-racist organisations and communities.
We are your firm allies against discrimination, hate and violence which has no place in our society.
