In response to the latest NHS England figures on performance and quality indicators, Dr Anthony Marsh QAM, Chair of The Association of Ambulance Chief Executives, said:
These latest figures underline the fact that, like the rest of the NHS, ambulance services are facing huge pressures and are working intensely to deal with record levels of demand for their services. English Ambulance Trusts received an average of 26,000 999 calls a day in November 2014, equivalent to an increase of over 3,000 every day compared to the previous November. Many Trusts are experiencing their busiest days ever during this winter period.
Despite this, we are continuing to provide safe, high quality care to patients. Our staff, through their hard work, have once again shown their resilience and commitment to provide a level of care that we can all be proud of.”
