Anna Parry, Managing Director of the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE) welcomed the introduction of the new Royal College of Emergency Medicine’s advisory statement for improving the clinical care of patients at emergency departments by ensuring that their Time Critical Medications are administered correctly, and on time, saying:

Anna ParryThis excellent initiative should help raise the profile of this key issue and ensure more patients get their medicines on time because quite often in an emergency taking medicines at the right time might be delayed or missed, which can result in patients coming to harm with exacerbation of symptoms and the development of complications leading to an increased risk of mortality if it continues.

This is good news for patients, positive for ambulance people who can support patients getting their medications on time and will help ease pressure in emergency departments, because patients who do not get their Time Critical Medications can end up having to stay longer in hospital.
