NARU showcases progress at national EPRR event Ambition 2018

The National Ambulance Resilience Unit’s commitment to positive stakeholder engagement took another step forward over 6th & 7th March with a highly successful attendance at the Ambition Expo 2018 in London, the annual event for those involved in the emergency preparedness, resilience and response sector.

NARU staff were on hand to meet colleagues old and new from all parts of the emergency services, the wider NHS, civil contingency and national resilience-related government departments, suppliers to the sector and international counterparts worldwide.

The event was the ideal opportunity to launch the new NARU Safe System of Work programme, which has been developed by the NARU Compliance and Quality Assurance team and covers several specialist capabilities that are now delivered by English ambulance services.

A new Compliance & Quality Assurance publication was launched at the event describing how NARU develops and maintains this Safe System of Work, to help ensure that the risks to ambulance staff working in hazardous and dangerous environments are mitigated to the best of the service’s ability. The document is available to be downloaded here.

Another showcase area was the work of the NARU Capabilities team, focusing on the launch of the comprehensive new version of the PROCLUS resource system, for use by all Hazardous Area Response Teams and by NARU to monitor and assure national capabilities and readiness for major incident situations.

NARU National Director Keith Prior says:

“Our attendance at Ambition this year was particularly worthwhile and gave our team the opportunity to show the huge variety of work we are now involved in to help local ambulance services deliver their special operations capabilities as safely and effectively as possible.

The quality and quantity of the delegates at the show meant that as a team we were able to meet significant numbers of old and new colleagues, swap new ideas and network under one roof efficiently and effectively over a two day period.”

The event hosted a particularly busy conference opposite the NARU stand which included a well-attended joint-presentation by NARU National Director Keith Prior and Head of Compliance Christian Cooper.

The national ambulance Emergency Preparedness Resilience and Response Group (EPRRG) also held their regular meeting at the event, which was held at Olympia in West London.
