West Midlands Ambulance Service is pleased to announce that it has successfully been awarded the Patient Transport Service (PTS) contract for Black Country Partnership Foundation Trust (BCPFT).
PTS staff will carry out approximately 17,000 non-emergency journeys per year helping patients in the Black Country (Sandwell, Dudley, Walsall, Wolverhampton) and South Staffordshire get to their appointments. A number of staff from Arriva, the former PTS provider for the area, will be transferring to work for West Midlands Ambulance Service ensuring a smooth transition of services.
The contract, which will provide a comprehensive range of community services will commence as of today (5th November).
Derek Laird, Commercial Services Director for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “It is fantastic news for the Trust to have been successfully awarded the contract to provide non emergency transport services to patients in the Black Country area.
“We’re looking forward to working closely with the BCPFT and the Trust is delighted to welcome the staff from the former service provider to the team at West Midlands Ambulance Service.”
The Trust’s PTS staff are fully trained in non emergency patient transport which includes basic first aid, manual handling, infection prevention and control and driving training.
