The North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Bob Williams as its new Chief Executive.
Following a rigorous and challenging recruitment process, the decision to appointment Mr Williams was announced today (Wednesday 16 October 2013)
Bob Williams has held the role of Acting Chief Executive for 12 months and has long career history with ambulances services in the midlands and the North of England.
After leaving the Royal Navy in 1984, he held the positions of Paramedic, Training Officer and Senior Manager with Northamptonshire, South Yorkshire, Leicester and Derbyshire Ambulance Services during 1985 – 1999, progressing to Executive Director for Operations for Greater Manchester Ambulance Service. From there he moved to West Yorkshire Ambulance Service in 2002 as Executive Director of Service Delivery. Bob took up the position of Deputy Chief Executive of NWAS when the Trust was formed in 2006.
Commenting on the appointment, Trust Chairman, Mary Whyham comments: ‘I am very pleased to announce this decision which came after a challenging interview process.
‘Bob is a very highly respected member of the NWAS team and I have no doubt that with his passion and drive for the NHS – our staff and our patients will all benefit from his leadership.
‘With this appointment, we are now in a position to move forward and look to the future – we want to ensure that the North West Ambulance Service can continue to be a service that the people of the North West are proud of.’
