The Association of Ambulance Chief Executives is supporting maximum participation in this year’s Restart a Heart Day, which is focusing on teaching children how to give CPR.
This year, it will be held on Tuesday 18th October.
The Resuscitation Council (UK), British Heart Foundation, St John Ambulance, British Red Cross, and Yorkshire Ambulance Service will be working together to help train as many young people as possible in the UK to learn to save a life and make “Every Child a Lifesaver.”
Restart a Heart Day is an annual initiative from the European Resuscitation Council to improve CPR knowledge and give the confidence to use it. This year will be the biggest campaign to date, particularly as all UK Ambulance Services are supporting us.
We want as many young people, either in schools or other youth groups across the UK to learn new, lifesaving skills. We know that bystander CPR and the use of an AED more than doubles the chance of survival so we need your help to give as many people as possible a lifesaving lesson.
If you already deliver CPR training to young people (and this could also be within the wider context of first aid training) and plan to deliver a session on 18 October 2016, please take 2 minutes to fill in this contact form. Who knows, you may even be part of a record achievement?
Otherwise, please use the interactive map on the Resuscitation Council (UK) website to find your regional Restart a Heart contact that can be of assistance in advising you further. Download a letter for your local school inviting them to participate in the day.
If you are a larger organisation or charity, please link in either on a regional basis with our contacts, or with one of the national organisations listed above. The more help we have to deliver the training, the more potential lifesavers we will create.
Finally, whether you are an individual or organisation, please help spread the word about Restart a Heart Day any way you can.
