South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) has been shortlisted as a finalist in this year’s Health Service Journal (HSJ) awards.
The trust has been shortlisted in the Enhancing Care by Sharing Data and Information category for its Intelligence Based Information System (IBIS) project.
IBIS matches 999 calls to individual patients who have given permission for SECAmb to access their care plans. Operators in the Trust’s Emergency Operations Centres notify attending 999 clinicians of the presence of a care plan.
After arriving on scene, ambulance crews calling a clinician in the centre receive important information on a patient’s ongoing care. In 2014/15 the system helped SECAmb clinicians avoid 7,300 patient transports to hospital, which equates to around 2,400 avoided admissions.
SECAmb Head of Clinical Development and consultant paramedic Andy Collen said:
I’m delighted that our already award-winning IBIS project has been shortlisted for another prestigious award. We’re very proud of the impact IBIS has had on helping patient across our region efficiently receive the treatment they need.”
The awards will be held on November 18 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
