On 19 July 2024 the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE) organised a meeting of the key stakeholders involved in the national ambulance service inclusive uniform project to discuss the main issues and challenges that have arisen in terms of progress with availability of these items at trust level and to develop a clear plan to resolve these problems without further delay.

Jason Killens KAM, Chair of AACE said:

Chief executives have been made fully aware of the challenges that have led to delays in ambulance trusts being able to purchase the new inclusive uniform items and we would like to extend our apologies to all staff affected.

Inclusive, comfortable uniform is a basic right for all ambulance staff, and I would like to reassure everyone that all chief executives are fully committed to getting these issues resolved as soon as possible as an absolute priority.

All ambulance trusts have now signed up to ensure that female fit trousers are available as soon as the supplier can provide them and that subsequently, other items as specified and agreed by the National Ambulance Uniform Users Group (NAUUG), will become available promptly.

Further updates will be provided by trust procurement teams and via trust NAUUG representatives as timelines are confirmed.
