Top paramedic responds to fire service calls to ‘take over’ key ambulance service functions

Professor Malcolm Woollard, Honorary Consultant Paramedic and Director of the Pre-hospital, Emergency and Cardiovascular Care Applied Research Group at Coventry University, has penned an in-depth response to the recent Chief Fire Officers Association’s calls to ‘take over and run’ parts of the NHS ambulance service.

Writing in the October issue of The Journal of Paramedic Practice (Vol 2, No 10) Professor Woollard highlights what he sees as, “the many flaws” in the proposition which was put forward by CFOA in October 2010.
