The UK NHS ambulance sector wholeheartedly supports the NHS Fit for the Future 10 Year Plan and its bold vision to transform the nation’s health.

With our 24/7 community presence, highly skilled multi-professional workforce, and real-time system-wide visibility, ambulance services are uniquely positioned to deliver the Plan’s ambitions.

By integrating 999 and 111 services, leveraging digital innovation, and focusing on prevention, we can reduce avoidable hospital conveyances, keep more patients safely at home, and ensure timely access to the right care in the right place.

The ambulance sector’s vision aligns closely with the NHS Fit for the Future 10 Year Plan, particularly in shifting care from hospitals to communities.

The consolidation of clinical assessment hubs will enhance the bringing together of multi-disciplinary expertise, reduction of duplication, and improvement in patient outcomes through early navigation to appropriate care pathways.

By better harnessing ambulance data and real-time syndromic datasets, we can systemically drive targeted interventions to address health inequalities and support public health initiatives, ensuring the sector’s full potential is realised in delivering the plan and, ultimately, providing better care for our patients.
