Dr Dhushyanthan Surendra Kumar, Chair of JRCALC, talks about three recent updates which have published in the guidelines.
The trauma emergencies in adults guideline has been expanded to cover the management of bleeding from arteriovenous fistulas and grafts. JRCALC advocate the use of an inverted bottle top to control bleeding in these patients.
Secondly, a new guideline on left ventricular assist device has been published, following on from an article in the Emergency Medicine Journal.
Finally, the guideline on heart failure has been significantly revised and new guidance for medicines issued. Dr Kumar discusses these important changes in the guidelines.
