Craig has over 20 years of experience in the ambulance sector, with a decade in senior leadership roles spanning the public, private, and third sectors. He has worked nationally and regionally, serving communities in both remote and rural locations, as well as large, complex metropolitan cities.

Craig started his career as an emergency call handler at the London Ambulance Service and later held various control room and operational roles, including as the Ambulance Operations Manager responsible for introducing the first ‘Clinical Hub’, providing hear and treat services, as well as clinical support to front-line ambulance clinicians, improving see and treat, and ensuring appropriate conveyance. In 2015, Craig moved to a national role with the Scottish Ambulance Service, where he worked on enhancing how healthcare systems and professionals engaged with the service to reduce demand on the ambulance service and ensure the right response for patients. Returning to the London Ambulance Service in 2016, Craig contributed to improving the emergency operations centre, introduced the new Ambulance Quality Indicators, and responded to some of the major incidents across the capital in 2017. As Head of 999 Service Delivery at LAS, Craig was part of the Trust’s Strategic Leadership Team.

In 2019, Craig joined St John Ambulance as their National Director responsible for operations. Craig led a significant transformation and improvement programme, which resulted in all services being rated as ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission. He secured a £30 million investment that established St John as the national ambulance auxiliary service to the NHS in England, led the organisation’s Covid-19 response, including recruiting and training over 26,000 volunteers to administer Covid-19 and flu vaccines in support of the NHS, and he was the Executive responsible for planning and responding to Operation London Bridge, the death of Her Late Majesty The Queen, followed by the Coronation of His Majesty The King.

More recently, Craig has served as Chief Operating Officer at Enhanced Care Services and as an Assembly Member on the NHS Assembly, advising the board of NHS England about the NHS Long Term Plan.
