Secondment Opportunity: Clinical Guidelines Development – Support Role to AACE

The Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE) published the UK Ambulance Services Clinical Practice Guidelines in 2013. It is the intention of AACE to keep these guidelines updated, relevant and the gold-standard for pre-hospital care. AACE is looking to appoint a person of suitable experience to assist them with this task. The role will be a part time secondment (one day a week), will require a high level of clinical understanding, independent work, some travel and regular attendance at meetings in London.

The post holder will work closely with the National Ambulance Service Medical Directors group (NASMeD) who advise AACE on clinical matters and provide the ‘editorial’ oversight required to ensure clinical guidelines reflect current best practice. The Post holder will also liaise closely with the Ambulance Lead Paramedics Group, key members of JRCALC, College of Paramedics, NICE and similar bodies of expertise.

AACE is committed to explore the very latest and best methods of publishing and distributing guidelines whilst maintaining full content and copyright integrity.  The Post holder will work with a variety of stakeholders to assess options in both print and electronic media and help draft a proposal for a future ‘guidelines’ strategy.

The Post holder will need to be:

  • A registered Paramedic with a minimum of 5 years experience
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Able to produce independent, high quality written work
  • Comfortable and experienced in liaising with senior clinicians, academics and subject matter experts
  • Expert in time management and working to deadlines
  • Flexible in managing this role and other work commitments

The Post holder will need to:

  • Identify and prioritise specific guidelines that require updating
  • Identify and prioritise areas of practice that need the development of guidelines
  • Work closely with lead clinicians, subject matter experts and director level staff.
  • Coordinate, research, evidence and help draft a variety of clinical guidelines
  • Research future options for disseminating clinical guidelines

Please can all interested parties submit a CV and covering letter to steve.irving@aace.org.uk by 26th May.

Interviews will be held in London on 20th June 2014.

As this is a new role, the requirements outlined above will be reviewed when the postholder has been in position for six months.
