The 2022 annual Ambulance Leadership Forum took place on 6-7 September 2022, at the Jurys Inn, Hinckley Island, Leicestershire.
Women in Leadership Seminar – Sept 5
Immediately prior to ALF, we hosted the second Women in Leadership Seminar on the afternoon of Monday 5th Sept – a half day workshop to follow up on key issues raised at the first Women in Leadership meeting held online in March 2022.
It featured guided discussions, debate and inspirational women leaders from within ambulance services and wider healthcare.

Ambulance Leadership Forum – Sept 6 & 7
Once again the spotlight was firmly on the challenges facing UK ambulance services to meet and improve clinical outcomes, set against the backdrop of intense demand across health services now operating in the revised landscape of ICSs.

The core topics for ALF 2022 again aligned with AACE’s three strategic priorities: supporting trusts to become providers of choice; employers of choice; and partners of choice.
ALF Day 1
On the first day of ALF we heard from speakers including NHSE CEO Amanda Pritchard, NHS Confederation CEO Matthew Taylor and Saffron Cordery, Deputy Chief Executive at NHS Providers. We also enjoyed a number of research presentations and thought-provoking discussion focused on current opportunities and challenges.
The event was again chaired by Lena Samuels.

ALF Day 2
On our second day we hosted multiple conference streams during the morning. We heard more of the NHS commitment to reduce the emissions we control directly (the NHS Carbon Footprint) to reach net zero by 2040, with an ambition to reach an 80% reduction by 2028 to 2032.
We also explored further initiatives around violence reduction, the support for Freedom to Speak Up Guardians and new initiatives to support successful implementation of ICSs, new patient pathways and new technology to support patient care….and much more, with our Day 2 speakers including Chris Hopson, Chief Strategy Officer at NHSE and College of Paramedics CEO Tracy Nicholls.
