On 3 July 2025, the National Ambulance Strategic Partnership Forum (NASPF) hosted a pivotal workshop focused on reducing misogyny and improving sexual safety within UK ambulance services.

The event brought together approximately 70 employee leads and trade union representatives from across the UK, united by a shared commitment to creating safer, more respectful working environments.

The workshop, co-facilitated by Kerry Gulliver (Chair, National Ambulance HR Directors Group) and Sharandeep Bandesha (Staff Side Co-Chair, NASPF), was anchored by AACE’s national approach to tackling these issues.

AACE’s Managing Director, Anna Parry, stressed that tolerating low-level inappropriate behaviour fosters a culture where predatory actions can take root and thrive.

Throughout the day, participants shared lived experiences and practical actions. Employee leads and union representatives from six ambulance services in England showcased local initiatives aimed at fostering psychological safety and inclusivity.

National insights from the College of Paramedics and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) highlighted the importance of supporting students and upholding professional expectations among registrants.

In the afternoon session, colleagues collaborated to identify opportunities for greater partnership working and faster progress. Discussions centred on how national and local efforts could align to ensure the NHS ambulance service becomes – and remains – a safe space for all patients, employees, students, and volunteers.
