Responses sought on experience of using the Recommended Summary Plan for Emergency Care & Treatment (ReSPECT) process

Resuscitation Council UK has launched a survey to capture feedback on people’s experiences of the ReSPECT process. If you have been involved in ReSPECT conversations with people and their families or have used content of the version 3 ReSPECT form to inform patient care and treatment, please complete the anonymous survey here.

ReSPECT has now been adopted by communities within 75% of counties in England and in several areas of Scotland. We were delighted that both the Care Quality Commission and Compassion in Dying have in recent months recognised the value of the ReSPECT process in reports they have published.

The recently published RCUK 2021 Resuscitation Guidelines provide guidance to improve patient and family experiences of conversations and decision-making to plan care they would want at the end of life.

We have continued to evolve and improve the ReSPECT process since it was first introduced in 2016 and brought in version 3 of the ReSPECT form in September 2020.

It is important that we capture feedback on people’s experience of using the ReSPECT process so we can continue to make it even better.

Resus UK have launched the survey on their website to gather feedback on the version 3 form from health and social professionals, patients and family members.  The survey will be open for 6 months.
