Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and health inequalities report - AACE and NHS Charities Together front coverThis report has been published as part of a project and significant fundraising campaign by NHS Charities Together to support activity linked to community resilience. The report outlines the current situation across the UK and makes proposals for next steps, specifically around the community response to OHCA.

As a valued stakeholder involved in building the report, we wanted to share it in advance of any public-facing campaign work. At this stage the report is intended as a tool to continue important conversations and debate and is not intended to be shared with the wider public and on external social media channels.

This is just the beginning of our work on OHCA and health inequalities. The next phase of the project involves hosting an in-person workshop and roundtable meeting to discuss the report in more detail and make plans that address the recommendations.  Following on from the round table we will be collaboratively working on wider stakeholder engagement and a targeted publicity campaign.

We would like to thank all stakeholders for their support, collaboration, and input into this work. The enthusiasm to be involved and work together throughout has been admirable. We believe the report recognises the incredible work, ambition, and passion across all organisations to drive improvement.

As you will read, the work has highlighted a wealth of areas where fundamental improvements could be made in the response to OHCA at both ambulance service level and the wider system. The scoping work also underlines the challenges we face in addressing health inequalities due a relative lack of data and evidence.
