“Is there value in MERIT?” RCS Ed and FPHC announce special conference

RCSEDThe Faculty of Pre Hospital Care and the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh have announced a special one day conference entitled ‘Is there value in MERIT?‘.

Following the establishment of Major Trauma Centres and Networks in England, the uptake of MERIT services has been varied; in some areas it is non-existent and in other is quite comprehensive.

This day is designed to review MERIT in principle, to look at its costing and commissioning; to review staffing, SOPs and governance, as well as to discuss its future. In addition, time will be spent to discuss the current and future role of BASICS.

The day will be particularly attractive to those involved in Pre Hospital Care including representatives from the College of Paramedics, from BASICS, from the new medical sub-specialty of Pre Hospital Emergency Medicine; from the Ambulance Service and from colleagues in Nursing. It will also be of interest to colleagues in commissioning.

Details of the programme, which will be held during the Emergency Services Show at the NEC in Birmingham on 25 September 2014, are attached. There is a small cost of £25 required at the time of registration to cover the costs of catering.

A copy of the programme is available here, and the registration form can be downloaded here.
